Teen heartthrob, ZAC EFRON and his High School Musical co-star girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens have a so called “Kuuipo Ring” which they are wearing on their right index fingers most of the time. These matching friendship/commitment rings were from Hawaii; what does the word “Kuuipo” means?

KUUIPO is the Hawaiian word for “sweetheart”. The on-and-off-screen couple also known as “ZANESSA” was first seen wearing the KUUIPO RING on 2007 following their romantic holiday in Hawaii. Two years later, they still wear those commitment rings as seen on their trip to Japan promoting the worldwide phenomenon High School Musical 3: Senior Year.

Made of sterling silver, the Hawaiian hand-carved KUUIPO ring features back on black enamel design in old English block lettering. Sharp detailed of hibiscus scroll design was portrayed on the rest of the ring. The old English scrolling pattern was originated with the early European jewelers in the island that gave their artistic gift to the beautiful Hawaiian jewelry.

Come in a variety of designs and colors, the KUUIPO COMMITMENT RING was designed by PHILIP RICKARD HONOLULU, the leading manufacturer of fine Hawaiian jewelry for the past 25 years. From a decent first retail location store at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center in 1986, the company has grown to be the Premiere Manufacturer of World Class Hawaiian Jewelry with five retail stores in the Hawaiian Islands, web sites in English and Japanese and a manufacturing and customer service location in Tokyo. In fact, the designer and founder Lester Ralph “Philip” Rickard has been awarded the HAWAII JEWELER OF THE YEAR 2008 by the Hawaii Jewelers Association.
Philip Rickard Honolulu’s designs were distinguished by their deep carved scrolling patterns, rich enameled names and inlays on many different gold colors and platinum. Many of the pieces hold diamonds and colored gemstones which are acquired daily by admirers in Hawaii and around the world. Well, …we know that Zachary David Alexander Efron, “arguably the biggest teen star in America right now“, is one of the admirers.
