Swiss Watch maker Jaeger LeCoutre presents the MASTER COMPRESSOR CHRONOGRAPH ‘46′, a tribute to the most successful motorcycle racers of all time, VALENTINO ROSSI. The Italian professional motorcycle racer has won multiple MotoGP World Championships (total of eight World Championships and still more to come.) He won the World Championship for 125cc category in 1997 (with Aprilia), 250cc category in 1999 (with Aprilia), 500cc category in 2001 (with Honda) and MotoGP in 2002, 2003 (with Honda), 2004, 2005, 2008 (with Yamaha). According to Sports Illustrated, Valentino “The Doctor” Rossi is one of the highest earning sports personalities in the world (7th in the world and 2nd outside United States), having earned an estimated $34 million in 2007.

Produced in limited edition of 746 pieces, the Jaeger-LeCoutre Master Chronograph Valentino Rossi edition features Rossi’s magic number ‘46’.  He has always raced with the number #46 in his motorcycle grand prix career. Rossi said he picked the number as inspired by the Japanese “wild car” racer NORIFUMI ABE whom he saw on television speeding past much more seasoned riders in a wet race. (No wonder his first nick was “Rossifumi”). But the more personal motive was that his father, Graziano Rossi had raced with the number ‘46’ in the first of his three grand prix career wins, in 1979, in Yugoslavia on 250cc category for Morbidelli Team. Typically, a World Championship winner is awarded the #1 sticker for the next season; but Valentino Rossi preferred to stay with his signature number “46” throughout his career.

About the Jaeger LeCoutre
The story began in 1833 when a brilliant inventor and self-taught watchmaker, Antoine-LeCoultre founded his first workshop, following the invention of a machine to produce the watchmaking pinions.
