In 2003, co-founded with Leigh Blake - a longtime AIDS activist and film/TV producer, the Grammy Awards winner Alicia Augello Cook a.k.a ALICIA KEYS established KEEP A CHILD ALIVE (KCA) FOUNDATION in order to provide life-saving anti-retroviral treatment, care and support services to children and families whose lives have been affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India. In their mission, the foundation directly engages the global public in the fight against AIDS. (By the way, this rings my bell that Bono of U2 has also the similar institution which fight the HIV/AIDS in Africa. In addition, Bono has lent his voices to one of KCA campaigns). With headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, the campaign asks the public to donate a dollar a day—a monthly contribution of $30.
Apparently, the endeavor will get more fund as KCA has just met a new partner: TOYWATCH, the choice of American celebrities such as First Lady Michelle Obama, Michael Jordan, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Martin, Mark Wahlberg, Lenny Kravitz and even the Alicia Keys herself. The Italian watchmaker has recently launched exclusive designed timepieces of which the percentage of the proceeds from each sale will go to Keep A Child Alive.
