Rolex Milgauss definitely has a lightning bolt as its second hand; but it couldn’t allure the fastest man on earth USAIN BOLT to choose the timepiece to be on his wrist. Even though he got nickname “Lightning Bolt” – which would match perfectly with the Milgauss’ lightning bolt, the Jamaican sprinter star prefers other Swiss premium brand. Usain Bolt is the new ambassador of HUBLOT.

Months before, Usain visited Manchester United training ground wherein he admired the Hublot’s Manchester United “Red Devil Bang” watch. Later, he visited Angola and awarded a Hublot’s Watch by the company’s sole representative; and in Shanghai today, Usain St. Leo Bolt, C.D.  – virtuoso of 100 m, conqueror of the 200 mm, the man who broke all the records on the athletic tracks, joins the ranks of the exceptional sportsmen and women who are members of the HUBLOT family.

Usain Bolt said,

Born in 21 August 1986, the Jamaican sprinter and an Olympic gold medalist, Usain St. Leo Bolt, C.D. holds the world record for the 100 meters, the 200 meters and, along with his teammates, the 4×100 meters relay. He also holds the Olympic record for all three of these races. At the 2008 Summer Olympics, Bolt became the first man to win three sprinting events at a single Olympics since Carl Lewis in 1984, the first man to set world records in all three at a single Olympics, and the first man to hold the 100 and 200 m world and Olympic titles at the same time. He proved his star quality in 2009 and 2010, when he won the sports equivalent of an Oscar at the “Laureus Sports Awards”, the most important honorary distinction in the international sporting calendar.

As the Hublot’s ambassador, Usain Bolt took part in a charity event on the 6th of July supporting the USAIN BOLT FOUNDATION. In front of the manufacture in Nyon – Switzerland, the fastest ambassador in the world pitted himself against 10 child athletes aged from 3 and a half to 13 years selected from across the region. Here is the stake: for each child who reaches the finish line of 100-m-sprint-race before the “Lightning Bolt”, HUBLOT would pay 10,000 US dollars. Of course, to make it fair, the children were given a head start several meters depending on their level and the length of their legs. And the result?

Thanks to the Usain Bolt’s generosity…he encouraged the children during their race, and they all finished before him. A check for US $100,000 then goes to the Usain Bolt Foundation to contribute towards a number of projects in Jamaica focusing on education, health and development, as well as contributes in particular to actions carried out by “United Way of Jamaica“.

After the spectacular and highly emotive event, the champion visited the Hublot Watchmakers and then spent a working session with Jean-Claude Biver and the manufacture’s Products Department, with the aim of developing the “Usain Bolt” watch that Hublot is currently creating.
