Two Oscar-nominated actors, Demián Bichir and Gary Oldman were seen wearing Piaget watches on the 84th Academy Award ceremony, at the Hollywood and Highland Center in Hollywood, California. The complex retrograde seconds mechanism is a unique features of self-winding mechanical movement calibre 560P, developed by Piaget’s engineers and master watchmakers for 24 months. It traces an arc from 0 to 30, and then jumps back – at 61 kilometers per hour – to its starting point. The engineers focused on the shock-absorption for the seconds hand while the watchmaker crafted aesthetic details such as circular Côtes de Genève decorations, circular-grained main plate, beveled and hand-drawn movement bridges, blued screws – all signature features of Haute Horlogerie from Piaget.
