Villain wasn’t born. They were created. And therefore Linda Hemming, costume designer created the new look of Joker, the villain in Dark Knight Movie.

However, the director, Christopher Nolan didn’t want a total different look of Joker. Therefore, Hemming made a survey, researching all the pertaining information and visualized a new look of Joker though it’s still the one in a purple suit. The designer prepared 20 variant coats. She compared the character with the one in comics book and fusing it with modern style.

One thing crossed Hemming’s thought is how come a man dresses up like this Joker?

She then observed rock star like Johnny Rotten of Sex Pistols and found that some people indeed have extreme appearance and feel fine with it. For then, Hemming assume Joker wear his uniform along the days in every situation. She decided not to remake the old style Joker. He preferred exaggerating Joker’s character instead of making him more like a clown. And here comes Joker with purple coat, disarray hairdo, and wide grinning lips.
