Michael Phelps is the world’s swimming sensation! Winning 200 meter-freestyle with a third straight world record in Beijing, Phelps join a stellar cast, including Mark Spitz and Carl Lewis, to become one of the most winning Olympian ever by grabbing his ninth gold medal. His achievement may go much farther as he aimed eight gold medals in single Olympic Games.

With President George W. Bush applauding in the stands, Michael Phelps, 23 years old, started dominating the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. On that second day of the event, Phelps grabbed his first gold medal by winning 400 meter-individual medley and set the new World Record, carved 1.41 seconds off his mark of 4.05.25 set last June.

On the next day, Michael Phelps claimed his 2nd gold medal, lead his teammates to set a World Record in winning the 4×100 freestyle relay, in 3 minute 8.24 seconds, hardly beating France.

In Water Cube Swimming Arena, Beijing, Phelps dominated once again in 200-meter freestyle. Racing out of lane six, he quickly surged to the lead and touched in 1 minute 42.96 seconds. He grabbed his third Beijing Olympic Gold Medal and set the new world record, breaking old world record 1:43:86 he set last year at world championship. It’s his ninth gold medal along his career and the gold put him with Spitz, Lewis, gymnast Larysa Latynina of Soviet and runner Paavo Nurmi of Finland for the most winning athlete in Olympic History.

Three down, five to go in Phelps’s mission to break the 36 year old Mark Spitz’s record of six gold medal in single Olympic. On August 13th, Phelps will after his 4th medal of Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and 10th overall in 200 meter-individual-butterfly, yet another event in which he holds the world record.

With those remarkable achievements, what then is Michael Phelps’ choice for his luxurious wrist watch?

As the ambassador of Omega, the Official Olympic Timekeeper, Phelps has chosen three pieces of Omega Seamaster Series. They are Seamaster Planet Ocean Big Size, Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono, and Seamaster Apnea.

Those three Omega Seamaster Series feature stainless steel case with domed scratch resistant sapphire crystal. They include hands of hour, minute and second. As Omega watch, they are equipped with self winding chronograph and co-axial escape movement for greater precision stability and durability of the movement. Co-Axial Escapement was invented by Dr. G. Daniels and commercialized by Omega. It uses a low friction for energy transmission system in order to produce high precision watches.
