The color is the basic ones so that you can combine them easily with your shirts. For working, the proper colors are black, dark blue, grey, brown and khaki.

If you work for a conservative firm, you better choose formal trousers with classic colors. And if you work for an entertainment company, or a press company, or in creative industry, you may pick casual trousers like khaki trousers, corduroy, jeans, or bright colored one. They will give you smart casual look. You can match khaki colored trousers with any color of t-shirt.

Formal trousers suit formal shirts. In opposite, casual trousers suit casual shirt, polo shirt, and t-shirt.

In office, men look good when they are wearing trousers with pleats (a fold in front of the trousers which is stitched to waist band) instead of tight pants. With pleats, men feel more comfortable when sit or move. Pleated trousers look more “dressy” and disguise the stuffs inside your pocket. However pleats must look neat. They “fall” properly, look closed, and straight. Look at the sewing carefully: pleat must be minimum 1.5 cm long.

Trousers must look neat when you wear it. Crease (fold in the pipe of your trousers by ironing it) should fall at the middle of your shoes, cross your knee straightly. Pockets on your side must be covered neatly and attached to your waist.

Trousers should be long enough to cover your socks and they are wide enough to cover two third of your shoes.

Make sure your trousers have the grip. Grip is layering fabrics underneath you waist band to keep your shirt stay neat and make the band look good.

Trousers with pleat usually have turn-up or cuff. Cuff is a reverse fold at the edge of your trousers’ pipe. trousers without pleat (the flat model) have no cuff.

Cuff is commonly three centimeters wide. Cuffed trousers look informal, that’s why men don’t wear them with tuxedo. Pay attention to the cuff carefully. They must be fold firmly.

Don’t use tight pants when you work. Try to wear your trousers in the standing position, sitting, and crossing your legs. Make sure there is no wrinkle at the bottom. To make it look more neat, don’t put wallet, keys, cell phone, or others inside your pocket.

Before you buy any trousers, better ask your friends about their experience. Not every brand has good quality. Your friends may recommend any brands known for the best quality.
