Eight is the lucky number of Chinese people. No wonder then 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing is about to open at 8-8-2008. To commemorate the event, Frida Giannini, Creative Director of Gucci has released limited edition collection of eight exclusive accessories personifying the sport luxury and dominated by red color.
Regarding the Chinese lucky color, Giannini said red not only represent happiness and celebration of international sport games but also happens to be the fashionable color of year 2008.
The Gucci 2008 Olympic Games Collections are
- I-Gucci Watch, a sporty digital watch, the Gucci’s first digital watch. Its clean face display two time zones and the Gucci GG Olympic Logo is etched on the rear face. This Gucci 2008 Olympic Watch is worth US $1,415.

- two pieces of “La Pelle Guccisimo” luggage. One is a fashionable leather duffel bag and the other is a soft leather messenger bag with iconic Gucci color on its strap.
La Pelle Guccisimo means a polish hand finished leather with metal plaque that display the interlocking combination of GG logo and year 2008.
- a unique GUCCI bicycle with bold red double “GG” leather details (US $3,420)
- two pieces of Gucci 8-8-2008 sport shoes for both men and women with fresh patchwork of suede, patent leather and gold trim, offered for US $660.
- a luxurious Gucci Mahjong set covered in red La Pelle Guccisima leather (US $3,150)
- a soft leather Gucci Panda to pay homage to China. The country’s iconic animal is offered for US $1,050.
- A Gucci military tag necklace with sterling silver and enamel. The GG 2008 logo is engraved on it. Sold for US $445.
The I-Gucci Watch will be offered worlwide while the other Gucci 2008 Olympic Limited Edition collections will be sold exclusively in Hongkong. Macau and mainland China.
Huang Xiao Ming, a Chinese actor and singer is the face for this Gucci 8-2008 limited edition collection. The ad campaign was photographed by Feng Hai in a studio in Hongkong.
