When I was a young rebellious teenager NIRVANA was, of course, my idol. Their best-selling album NEVERMIND accompanied while I was a teen spirit. And twenty years later, the naked baby on the album cover has turned into a young man. He works as an artist, interning at Shepard Fairey at Obey Giant studio.

In an interview, May 2005, as appeared on the documentary DVD Classic Albums: Nirvana – Nevermind, the 14-year-old SPENCER ELDEN “The Nirvana Baby” was spotted wearing the Independent Trucks Unit New Era 59 Fifty Hat. It is made of wool with fitted adjustability. The price is $27.12.

Released on September 24th, 1991, “Nevermind” catapulted the grunge band from Seattle and its music to the top of the chart, with songs included “Smells Like Teen Spirit” signifying the birth of rock’s great renaissance and usher in a cultural shift that would define a generation.

On the 20th anniversary of the album’s release, Spencer Kenneth Royce Elden (born February 7, 1991 in Los Angeles) said that now he suffers more tribulations than other famously photographed babies whose images are associated more with cuteness than grunge. However, he could get money sometime for his famous pool pose.

“Stuff happens like random cool situations where I get paid $500 just to go hang out,” Elden said. “People just call me up and they’re like, ‘Hey you’re the Nirvana baby, right? Well just come and swim in my pool and we’ll give you some money.’”

CNN said that not everyone’s naked baby picture has become part of America’s pop-culture psyche. Of course, it led to other appearances. In 2005, he appeared on a Channel 4 show titled The 100 Greatest Albums. In 2008, Elden granted an interview to NPR’s All Things Considered. In a September 2006 interview with NME, Elden expressed his interest in meeting up with the remaining band members, and seems to be a fan of Nirvana and said, “Most bands around today can’t even get near to what Nirvana did on that album, and I’ll always be happy to be a part of it.” Elden has since appeared on the cover of cEvin Key’s The Dragon Experience in 2003.

German design house, PORSCHE DESIGN has just released a new compass watch in March at Baselworld. The P’6250 COMPASS harks back the first navigational watch designed by Prof. Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and released in 1978 as collaboration between Porsche Design and the Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen. Yet, to me, with the two-fold function, the gadget watch rings a bell of the Master Feng Shui Watch by Chinese international label Shanghai Tang.

The PORSCHE DESIGN P’6520 COMPASS WATCH consists of two parts. The upper part tells time by its three hands while the lower – revealed when you flip the watch face – is a removable liquid compass. Also, there are mirrors on the case back and top of the compass that click in place making it easier to read the direction. The case is made of titanium with a scratch resistant PVD coating set with black titanium bracelet. Animated by self-winding Swiss made Sellita SW300 movement, with a power reserve of 42 hours, the Porsche Design explorer’s timepiece is produced in limited edition of 911 pieces. Water-resistance is 50 meters.
