All Grey, Shaped by Shade and Shadow

Vacheron Constantin Overseas Automatic and Automatci Chronograph

The “All Black” and “All White” Watches should welcome their new member of “Shaped by Shade and Shadow Collection” as VACHERON CONSTANTIN retro-back their OVERSEAS WATCHES in monochromatic theme: ALL GREY. In this two new models: an Automatic and an Automatic Chronograph, the Manufacture features slate grey dials, mouse grey straps, anthracite grey titanium bezels, and steel grey cases. They call it elegant combination of tones that banish the other colors, making it so exclusive and brook no rivalry.

The evolution of The Vacheron Constantin Overseas Watch
The VACHERON CONSTANTIN OVERSEAS WATCH was first launched in 1996 as the reinterpretation of a 1933 model and of the 22 made in 1977. The sporty, dynamic and elegant timepiece soon became the faithful companion for the globetrotting enthusiast of technical and aesthetic excellence. With their sharp and naturally elegant lines, this highly technical product became an instant hit. The strong invitation to travel is conveyed today by the whole collection, whose appeal lies in its classical and dynamic character, remarkable functionality and exemplary legibility.

In 2004, Vacheron Constantin introduced a new generation of the OVERSEAS line; one that was resolutely modern and sportier. It included a men’s model, a ladies’ model and a chronograph model, all in steel.  The diameter was slightly enlarged and a new link bracelet with half-Maltese cross was developed.

In 2006, to celebrate the 10 years of the Vacheron Constantin Overseas line, the watchmaker presented the DUAL TIME, the most useful functions for frequent travelers.

In this spring 2009, Vacheron Constantin introduced titanium in line with two new OVERSEAS SERIES: Overseas Automatic and Overseas Automatic Chronograph. The casing steel, titanium bezel and the slate gray dial give the watch an especially sporting, technical and elegant at once. This metal was also used by the Manufacture in 2008 in its Quai de l’Ile collection.

The cases of these two new models, a generous diameter of 42 mm each, includes all the identifying characteristics of the Overseas collection: faired lines, a bezel inspired by the Cross of Malta, index screwed-down push pieces for the chronograph version, index highlighted white luminescent hour-markers, water resistance to a depth of 15 ATM (equivalent to 150 meters), including the iconic motif of the boat Overseas three masts, the Amerigo Vespucci, engraved on the full merits of the case.

The OVERSEAS CHRONOGRAPH, in addition to its traditional functions - hours, minutes, seconds - has two counters: 30 minutes at 3 o’clock and 12 hours at 9 o’clock. The date is displayed on it below 12 o’clock at the option of an oversized window.

The automatic mechanical movement – the 1226 calibre for the mechanical model, the 1137 calibre for the chronograph – is entirely surrounded by a metal shielding of soft iron which makes it totally insensitive to the all-pervading effects of magnetism that can affect the propriety of running and the precision of the watch.

Finally, each watch comes with two straps, one in mouse grey alligator and the other in black rubber.

About Titanium
Titanium was discovered in 1791 by the Reverend William Gregor, a British mineralogist and chemist, and named after the Titans in Greek mythology. An industrial production process was developed in 1939 by a metallurgist and chemist from Luxembourg, Wihelm Justin Kroll. Titanium is a light, bluish grey metal that is resistant to corrosion, erosion and fire. It is widely used in the aeronautics, aerospace, chemical and medical industries and recently in the watch industry where it is used for its contemporary look, imposing and original quality, and light weight (density 40% lower than steel), all perfectly in line with the expectations of new customers of technical Haute Horlogerie.
