One of my favorite movies is “PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS”, an American biographical drama film (Columbia Pictures, 2006), starred by WILL SMITH as Chris Gardner, an on-and-off homeless salesman who fight for a stockbroker internship position at Dean Witter. Without money or a wife, but fully committed to his son Christopher, Chris come across many challenges and troubles along his six month unpaid training to win the only position standing out the other 19 candidates.

The movie was based on true story of a rags-to-riches, Christopher Paul Gardner as written on his eponymous best selling memoir; but to make it more attractive, the screenwriter Steve Conrad added up a fictional scene: CHRIS GARDNER (Will Smith) solving RUBIK’S CUBE in a very limited time while sitting in a cab with the being-impressed stock broker. (Apparently, that is akin to Will Smith’s rubik scene thirteen years prior in an episode of 90’s popular sitcom “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” to impress a Princeton University recruiter.)

Will Smith vs Princeton recruiter; Not showing any interest in the school, he solves the rubix cube just for the heck of it.

On that cab, Will Smith tells the guy how to solve the RUBIK’S CUBE:

“It looks like it works around a swivel – the center pieces never move. So if it’s yellow in the center, that’s the yellow side. If it’s red in the center, that’s the red side.”

This video below contains The Pursuit of Happiness’ Rubik Cube’s scene featuring WIll Smith plus the Blindfold SpeedCuber Champion, Leyan Lo, the background of the origin of the Rubiks Cube and also Speed Cubers.

Will it work?
Will the Will Smith’s Secret of Solving Rubik’s Cube work?

I don’t know…I’m not one of the rubik’s geek. Actually, I’ve never made solving the Rubik unless  I “cut and paste” the colors. And with such kind of incapability, I think I deserve a RUBIK’s CUBE ACCESSORIES by JustCufflinks as they are designed not to be solved. :D
As notified by the manufacturer: “Just don’t try to ’solve’ them or you’ll need replacements!”

However, the accessories win the #5 newest and funkiest cufflinks – out of 10,000 JustCufflink’s collections so far. Made of … the RUBIK’S CUBE CUFFLINKS is available for the price of US $34.00.

The Rubik’s Cube was originally called the “MAGIC CUBE”. It was invented in 1974 by Hungarian Sculptor and professor of Architecture Ernő Rubik. The 3D mechanical puzzle, regularly measures 3 inches by 3 inches on each side and made up of multiple colors, gained a successful sensation in the 1980’s and won the German Game of the Year: Special Award for Best Puzzle. In this recent months, the puzzle has made its resurrections and got famous once again. As of January 2009, 350 million cubes have sold worldwide making it the world’s top-selling puzzle game.
